Scaling & Root Planing
A deep cleaning below the gumline that treats gum disease and protects against tooth loss.
Scaling and root planing (SRP), commonly known as deep cleaning, is a non-surgical periodontal treatment aimed at removing plaque, tartar, and bacterial toxins from the surfaces of the teeth and roots below the gumline. This procedure is typically recommended for patients with gum disease, specifically gingivitis or periodontitis, where the gums have become inflamed and infected.
Scaling involves using special dental instruments to remove plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces, while root planing smooths out rough areas on the roots of the teeth to discourage bacteria from reattaching. By thoroughly cleaning the teeth and roots, SRP helps to reduce inflammation, promote gum healing, and prevent further progression of gum disease.
At High Cosmetic Dentist, our experienced dental professionals provide gentle and effective SRP treatments to help our patients achieve and maintain optimal gum health.
